[1] Correspondence between Adolph Loewi and Pietro Toesca, 1 March 1948, Joslyn Art Museum, Object File. The German Jewish dealer Adolph “Adolpho” Loewi (1910–1993) left Italy with his family and much of his Italian gallery’s stock (Venice, est.1911) in 1939, relocating to New York and then Beverly Hills. The sculpture may have transferred to the US at this time.
