Art-tastic Saturdays
Sat Jun 7, 11AM–2PM
Get Outdoors!
First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages. Celebrate the beginning of summer fun with art-inspired activities in our garden spaces.
A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:
- Begin at our Welcome Table near the Main Entrance! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
- Out & About Storytime with Omaha Public Library, 11 am; we’ll move outside for this storytime program. There also will be opportunities to learn more about all the great things happening at area libraries.
- Join Poppy, Omaha Public Library’s Mobile Library, for a special giveaway experience! Attendees can pick out a free book from Poppy, thanks to a generous community group in honor of their love for lifelong learning.
- Have fun painting with watercolors in our Discovery Garden. This art project is led by teaching artist, Melissa Laugen and all ages are welcome.
- Join us at noon for mindfulness activities on our Grand Lawn with Alexis Espinoza of Fern Foundation for Kids. Through movement, yoga poses, breathing exercises, mindful activities, and guided sensory relaxation techniques, discover fun and engaging ways to enjoy the outdoors for all ages!
- Enjoy a sneak peek of here then now, an original dance that will be performed on Jun 12 at the Museum. Watch an informal excerpt of this dance at 1pm, and hear more about the upcoming show from tbd.dance collective dancers.
- Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
- Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, Made in the Plains, is free to all today; always free to Joslyn members.
- The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
- Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
Sponsorship for this program series provided by FNBO and Omaha Steaks.
