Art-tastic Saturdays
Jan 4, 11AM–2PM
New Year, New Art!
First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages.
This month we’re shining a light on some of the exciting works of art acquired recently by the Museum, as well as our temporary exhibitions. Come to spend time in the galleries, enjoy stories and music, and make art of your own.
A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:
- Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
- Storytime with Omaha Public Library, 11 am; get comfortable in our new Community Room for this storytime program. There also will be opportunities to learn more about all the great things happening at area libraries.
- At 11:45 and 1 pm, Omaha-based vocalist and musical theater performer Evelyn Hill will sing and play guitar offering a mix of timeless classics, ballads, and modern hits.
- Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
- Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
- Visit Studio 1 to create a weaving inspired by Suchitra Mattai’s one, on view in the Hawks Pavilion. All ages are welcome.
- The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, with an array of books and games.
- Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale, The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests, and Art Works: A Place for Curiosity is an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
