We look forward to welcoming you back to Witherspoon Hall for a favorite partnership program with Omaha Symphony. Join us on six selected Sunday afternoons, October through May, for repertoire ranging from exciting new works to established gems. Plan to arrive early to stroll the galleries, enjoy lunch in The Cafe, or make a stop in The Shop.

1 pm talk –presented by Annika K. Johnson, PhD, Stacy and Bruce Simon Curator of Native American Art, focusing on Tom Jones’ series Ho-Chunk Veterans Memorials (1999-present) 

1:25 pm talk – presented by Symphony staff  

2 pm concert – Mazzoli & Weill 

 

Missy Mazzoli’s work returns to the Witherspoon with These Worlds In Us, intense, emotional writing for chamber orchestra. Omaha Symphony Third Flute & Piccolo player, Lisa Meyerhofer, takes on Lowell Liebermann’s Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra, highlighting the range of the orchestra’s smallest instrument. Kurt Weill’s Symphony No. 2 closes the program, a 20th century masterpiece written after his escape of Nazi Germany in 1933.
