Volunteer | The Joslyn

Volunteer
The Joslyn is grateful for volunteer support in many areas of Museum operations. Roles vary, with different areas of focus, responsibilities, and time commitments. If you are interested in any of the roles described below, we encourage you to apply.
Art Works Volunteers
If you enjoy a bustling atmosphere and fostering open-ended, creative play, this opportunity might suit you. These adult volunteers welcome and support visitors in Art Works: A Place for Curiosity—a lively interactive space filled with fun, hands-on activities for all ages. We request Art Works Volunteers sign up for two, two-hour shifts per month, for one year. Art Works is open during all Museum hours and scheduling is flexible.
General Museum Volunteers
The Joslyn often has a need for a helping hand with a one-time project to support a team on a temporary basis. Adults who volunteer might be assigned to work with the Development department on a large mailing, take tickets for an exhibition, assist with Museum wayfinding on a busy day, or take on a specific non-sale activity in The Shop. While these are expected to be short in duration, they could turn into a regular gig. We’ll assign you where your interests and skill set might fit a need.
Learning & Engagement Volunteers
Adults in this volunteer pool support Museum staff with a variety of programs, as needs arise. Examples might include helping with check-in or wayfinding at a community program or teacher workshop, or assisting with a special event at Kent Bellows Studio, home of our teen mentoring program. There is no long-term commitment with this role. If you’re comfortable chipping in, as needed, and as your schedule allows, this role might appeal to you.
The Museum also has Gallery Volunteers and Jambassadors (teen volunteers) groups. When those opportunities open up again in the future, information will be available here.
