A woman in a red shirt paints on a canvas at a table in an art classroom. Other people are also seated and working on their own projects in the background.

Painting: Mystery & History (Teens & Adults)

Sat Jul 18, 10AM–12PM

Sat: Jun 6, 13, 20, 27, Jul 11, 18; 10 am–noon

Let the Museum’s collection be your guide as you learn about a variety of painting styles and techniques! We’ll examine one artwork in the galleries each week, then create a small-scale painting using a different medium each time. We’ll discuss how artists have been influenced by available materials and technologies and how a style or movement changed the art world. Students will explore fresco, watercolor, oil, acrylic, and soak-staining, while gaining a rich understanding of art history.
