World Refugee Day

Gather at The Joslyn to celebrate Omaha’s rich diversity while learning about issues facing the city’s refugee population. Our resettled refugee communities have overcome unbelievable odds to find peace and freedom in Omaha. Come to explore their stories, talents, and cultures. Free event; all are welcome.

10:30 am – “Refugees 101” presented by Der Yang, Director of Refugee Services at CIRA (Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement)
11:30 am – “Rooted in Resilience” panel discussion presented by Manger Baw, Founder, Knyaw Academy; Husna Faizi, Afghan High School Student; Luis Marcos, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Communicad Maya Pixan; Adama Sawadogo, Founder & Executive Director, African Immigrant Family Services; moderated by Mohammad Sahil, Founder & Executive Director, Nebraska Afghan Community Center
