A man and woman in medieval clothing sit closely, sharing an intimate moment in a richly decorated room, as an older man in black robes looks on from the doorway in surprise. Books and musical instruments surround them.

Art Break

Thu May 14, 12:30PM–1PM

Free, drop-in program

Join us for a midday break as we spend 30 minutes with one work of art. We’ll delve into the slow looking process—an approach that allows for learning and discovery through extended observation time.

Featured work: Jean Vignaud (French, 1775–1826), Abelard and Heloise Surprised by the Abbot Fulbert, 1819, oil on canvas, 47 1/2 × 39 3/4 in. (120.7 × 101 cm), Museum purchase, Collectors’ Choice, 1985, 1985.6, Photograph © Bruce M. White, 2019

Janie Helt, Adult Programs Manager, will facilitate this conversation in Gallery J4, Joslyn Building.
