Art Break: Utagawa Hiroshige

Thu May 15, 12:30PM–1PM

Thu May 15, 12:30PM–1PM

Join us for a midday break, as we spend 30 minutes with one work of art: Okazaki: Yahagi Bridge, from the series The Fifty–three Stations of the Tōkaidō, Kichizo Edition, circa 1850-51, by Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797-1858). We’ll delve into the slow looking process, an approach that allows for learning and discovery through extended observation time. Kris Bergquist, Head of Community Programs, will introduce and guide the conversation.

The free, drop-in program takes place in Hawks Pavilion H5 in the exhibition, The Floating World and Beyond: 200 Years of Japanese Prints. It is part of a series, occurring every two months in different spaces throughout the Museum.
