All dates: Jul 16, Aug 20, and Sep 17

About the Artists:

Francisco Souto

Working across media, Francisco Souto creates highly-detailed images that address sociopolitical turmoil, migration experiences, and the human capacity for resiliency. Although formally photorealist, Souto’s compositions retain a decidedly surrealist quality. He isolates imagery from its original context and pairs seemingly unrelated subjects, encouraging viewers to approach his work with a spirit of curiosity. Francisco Souto lives and works in Lincoln, Nebraska and is the director of the School of Art, Art History, and Design and a professor of art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez

Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez explores cultural hybridity, migration, and identity. Spanning painting, sculpture, and installation, her work weaves together personal narratives and broader cultural and feminist themes. Friedemann-Sánchez has received numerous awards and fellowships, including a Smithsonian Artist Fellowship, Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, and US Latinx Artist Fellowship. Her art has been exhibited in institutions across the Americas and is held in many public and private collections. Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez lives and works in Lincoln, Nebraska.
