A woman closely examines a textured, abstract painting with circular patterns in a bright, modern art gallery filled with natural light.
Three men performing an energetic drum routine outdoors, wearing matching black shirts and sunglasses, using metal trash cans as drums, with animated gestures. A small crowd and a large building are visible in the background.

Art-tastic Saturdays

Sat Apr 4, 11AM–2PM
Unconventional Materials

First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages.  This month, we’ll be exploring art made with recycled, reused, and unusual materials. Join us for a day filled with creative thinking about what art can be!

A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:

  • Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
  • Out & About Storytime with Omaha Public Library, 11 am.
  • Performances by Omaha Street Percussion, a collection of local drummers who pair a highly energetic form of drumming with unorthodox forms of percussion.
  • Stop by Keep Omaha Beautiful’s table to learn more about recycling and reuse.
  • Create a work of art in the studio with teaching artist Cassidy Coalson.
  • Slow down and sketch in the galleries.
  • Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
  • The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event.
  • Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).

Sponsorship for this program series provided by First National Bank of Omaha and Omaha Steaks

Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All Program, the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, a gift in memory of Matthew W. Gress, and a gift in loving memory of Peggy Severson

Thanks to program partners Omaha Public Library, Keep Omaha Beautiful, and Omaha Street Percussion.
