Homeschool Days

Thu Dec 11, 10AM–12PM

Each semester during the school year, The Joslyn offers homeschools and microschools the opportunity to explore art as a family in this free drop-in program from 10 am to noon. Families will rotate through stations in the Museum to engage in gallery experiences and create art.

Storytelling takes many forms at The Joslyn, and artworks hold stories waiting to be told. This school year, we will discover, create, and share them in our programs.

DECEMBER PROGRAM: Step into a world of creativity and storytelling at The Joslyn! Families will explore textures, patterns, and imagery in the galleries, then bring their own ideas to life, crafting artworks that connect the past, present, and future. Registration required; online registration closes Tue, Dec 9; walk-ins accepted as space allows.

Program is at capacity. Contact us to get added to the waiting list.

STATIONS OPEN 10 AM–NOON:

EXPLORE: Hands-On Highlights
Explore woven works and photography up close with hands-on materials at the Art Cart. Participants will discover textures, patterns, and the stories behind what they will go and find in the galleries.

CREATE: Fiber Time Travelers
Create a woven artwork inspired by Suchitra Mattai using yarn and simple materials to explore how the past, present, and future can be braided together. Participants will layer colors and textures to tell their own meaningful, illustrative stories.

CREATE: Remix & Reimagine
Cut, layer, and remix vintage visuals with intriguing images to create a collage that blends the past, present, and future. Participants will explore color, composition, and texture as they bring their imaginative stories to life.
