A person in a red shirt paints a portrait of a face with closed eyes on an orange canvas, using a thin brush. The painting appears unfinished, with the face showing subtle gray and brown tones.

Mixed Media: Abstract Portraiture – Teens & Adults

Fri Oct 3, 10AM–12PM

Fridays: September 12, 19, 26, October 3, 10; 10 am–noon

Joslyn Members: $102; General Public: $120

Gaining inspiration from contemporary artwork in the galleries, students will use non–traditional techniques, layering acrylic paint and dry pastels, to create large, dynamic portraits. We’ll learn about facial proportions, while incorporating abstract shapes, colors, and symbols that represent the character and personal history of “the sitter”.

Teaching Artist: Erin Blayney

Registration is closed.
