Apéro, with Alliance Francaise at The Joslyn

Thu Oct 8, 5PM–7PM

Free, drop-in community partnership program, designed for French language speakers of all abilities.

The Joslyn is partnering with Alliance Francaise Omaha chapter to hold their monthly program, Apéro, in the Museum’s Community Room, in celebration of Café Society: Art and Sociability in Paris, 1855-1914. Apéro, short for apéritif, is sacred in France: an hour or so before dinner when you can unwind over a glass of wine, a few light snacks, and good conversation. Alliance Française Omaha has hosted a monthly Apéro for years for its members, students, and anyone who wants to speak French in a supportive, friendly environment. French is encouraged but not always required; for beginners, it’s OK to smile and nod. This evening will include a short introduction to the exhibition by Museum staff, light bites, drinks for purchase, and an exhibition ticket to Café Society.

Café Society: Art and Sociability in Paris, 1855–1914 is organized by Ordrupgaard, Copenhagen, Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis, and Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha. It is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.
