Four people sit on concrete amphitheater steps outdoors: two older women chatting on the left, and a woman with a young girl sitting together on the right. It's a sunny day with bushes and rocks behind them.

Art-Tastic Saturday

Sat Sep 5, 11AM–2PM

Stories in Art

First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages. Discover many stories found in artworks throughout the Museum, and create your own.

We are happy to welcome our VIP Visitors*, Girls Inc., Protégé House (Transitional-living Program).

A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:

  • Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
  • At 11:30 am, American Midwest Ballet presents “Stories in Art.” Watch as these dancers are inspired by specific pieces of art, with their stories unfolding and coming to life right in front of you with the power of dance and movement.
  • Create your own work of art with teaching artist Stephanie Carlson-Pruch.
  • Visit our Garden Art Cart in the Discovery Garden for a drop-in activity called Pollinator Pledge Seed Packs. With Mi’oux Stabler (Umoⁿhoⁿ), Prairiescape Designer, visitors will learn about plant and pollinator connections—creating a pledge to plant the seed of a plant that supports a pollinator.
  • Slow down and sketch in the galleries.
  • Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
  • The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event.
  • Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).

Sponsorship for this program series provided by First National Bank of Omaha and Omaha Steaks

Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All Program, the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, a gift in memory of Matthew W. Gress, and a gift in loving memory of Peggy Severson

Thanks to program partners American Midwest Ballet and Girls Inc., Protégé House (Transitional-living Program).

*VIP Visitors is a special invitation program for community groups to join in the fun at our monthly events, Art-tastic Saturdays and Nights at The Joslyn.
