Statement Pieces: Art and Fashion

Feb 28, 2027 – Jun 20, 2027

Scott Pavilion
Galleries S1–3

Featuring paintings, drawings, textiles, and photographs from the Joslyn Art Museum collection and objects held in the Barrett Barrera Projects archive, Statement Pieces stages a dialogue between art and fashion. Dresses, overcoats, capes, and accessories are juxtaposed with works of art from across time and cultures. The first exhibition of its kind at The Joslyn, Statement Pieces illuminates connections and experiences that are by turns formal, conceptual, novel, timeless, provocative, and profound.

Highlights include art by Titian, Maria van Oosterwyck, Andy Warhol, and Glenn Ligon and fashions by Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, and Comme des Garçons.

Statement Pieces: Art and Fashion is organized by the Joslyn Art Museum in conjunction with Barrett Barrera Projects. Barrett Barrera Projects is an independent arts organization and archive specializing in exhibitions that combine art and fashion.
