$2.50
Postcard featuring Robert S. Duncanson’s Falls of Minnehaha, a romantic vision of one of Minnesota’s most celebrated natural landmarks. Printed on cardstock, 4.25" x 6".
Painted in 1862, Robert S. Duncanson’s Falls of Minnehaha depicts the famous cascade in Minnesota with a blend of natural grandeur and lyrical romanticism. Duncanson, often celebrated as the foremost African American landscape painter of the nineteenth century, was deeply influenced by the Hudson River School’s emphasis on light and atmosphere. In this work, he captures the rushing water, lush greenery, and tranquil setting with a poetic sensibility that reflects both the beauty of the American wilderness and the artist’s own imaginative vision. Acquired by the Joslyn Art Museum in 2023, Falls of Minnehaha stands as a testament to Duncanson’s artistry and enduring place in American art history.
