Service-Learning Projects

Would your class like to collaborate with The Joslyn on a service-learning project?  We work with the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Service Learning Academy (UNO SLA), and we request UNO instructors contact them to get started. For other higher ed institutions, contact us with your ideas. All projects should be planned in the semester or trimester prior to when they will be part of your syllabus.

Established in 2024, this paid internship program hires Creighton University and the University of Nebraska Omaha undergraduate students and recent graduates. Known as Gallery Teachers, they lead PK-12 school, higher education, and homeschool family group tours. Through training and practical experience, students build a strong foundation for professional work in the arts, education, and the museum field. They also strengthen their critical thinking, adaptability, teamwork, and communication skills. The recruiting, interviewing, and hiring period for the next cohort is from February to April.

Our 2025–2026 cohort’s majors include art education, art history, biochemistry, biology, English, English literature, history, psychology, public health, sociology, Spanish, and studio art.
