Events

Gallery Teachers provide an inquiry-based, peer-to-peer exploration of art. Students participate in thought-provoking conversations and deepen their connection to human creativity. One-hour guided tours are available starting October 1, 2024, through May 16, 2025, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm. Museum admission is free; fees apply for some ticketed exhibitions. Request a guided tour four weeks in advance; once you receive an email confirmation from the School Programs Assistant, your visit is scheduled.

Guided Tours

Guide your students through the galleries in small groups at your own pace. Self-guided visits are available during regular Museum hours starting October 1. During the school year, a 9 am start is possible. General Museum admission is free; fees apply for some ticketed exhibitions. Request a self-guided visit four weeks in advance; once you receive an email confirmation from the School Programs Assistant, your visit is scheduled.

Self-Guided Visits

KEEP IN MIND all group visits must be requested four weeks in advance.
GROUP SIZE 
Instructors with 10 students or more should complete the Group Visit Request Form. Groups with over 75 students should schedule two or more visits.
DAYS &amp; HOURS 
Guided tours are given Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from October 1, 2024, to May 16, 2025, from 9 am to 1 pm.
Self-guided visits take place on Tuesdays–Sundays starting October 1 during the Museum’s regular hours; a 9 am start time may be requested during the school year.
TIME 
Group visits may take up to three hours max. Groups going on Guided Tours are encouraged to schedule time to self-guide the Museum, too.
LUNCH 
Groups may dine or arrange a catered lunch in The Café.
FEES 
Museum admission is free; fees apply for some ticketed exhibitions.
ART WORKS, The Joslyn’s interactive space, is for general Museum visitors; groups are not permitted but individuals are invited to come back.

Would your class like to collaborate with The Joslyn on a service-learning project?  We work with the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Service Learning Academy (UNO SLA), and we request UNO instructors contact them to get started. For other higher ed institutions, contact us with your ideas. All projects should be planned in the semester or trimester prior to when they will be part of your syllabus.

Service-Learning Projects

In partnership with Creighton University’s College of Arts and Sciences, The Joslyn established a year-long, paid internship program for undergraduates (juniors and seniors) and recent graduates who will lead PK-12 school and higher ed group tours. Through training and practical experience, this cadre of students, called Gallery Teachers, will gain a strong foundation for future work in the arts, education, and the museum field. Recruiting for the next cohort will begin in February 2025.
